WOMAN AS HIGHWAYMAN.
New Thing in Hold-Ups in the Mill City.

Women as highwaymen is the very latest in Minneapolis. Last night shortly after 10 o'clock J. F. Avery, a medical student, and son of Dr. Avery, of the health department, was walking south on Nicollet avenue, with nothing on his mind but the idea of reaching home as soon as possible. He was not looking for trouble or thinking of trouble, and therefore did not expect any. Shortly before he arrived at the corner of Fifteenth street he saw two men and a woman on the corner near the Free Baptist church engaged in conversation. This was nothing unusual and he would have thought nothing of it if, as he was about to pass the group, the two men had not shoved revolvers in his face and commanded him to hold up his hands. Mr. Avery, like a sensible young man, held up his hands while one of the highwaymen put his gun back in his pocket and proceeded to go through the clothes of their victim. All that was forthcoming was 50 cents and a small gold watch. These the robbers, male and female, took and departed, leaving Mr. Avery to think it over. He immediately went to a near-by drug store and reported the matter to the police, describing the men as being short, wearing felt hats and handkerchiefs over their faces for masks.
