MR. Cooper
Extract of a Letter from London, October 8.
it is plain Your Assembly had been dissolved, and thereby prevented from transmitting their most humble Petitions: to the Speaker was to endeavor to alarm the British manufacturers with his Fears. But it won't do my old acquaintance. We served with you too long to be imposed upon by your Vaunts. We have not got a G- r-- IC i.- y now for our American Minister. The noble Earl who now conducts that department is not to be frightened with Squibs. -- Lower your Tone and he will hear you. and treat you with that Tenderness and condescending Humanity peculiar to him; but not upon Compulsion; not a Syllable upon Compulsion. -- Submit to the Laws. and then state your Grievances; for there will be no Treaty with Subjects in Arms against the Laws."
