Phantom Five To Play YMCA Aces Tuesday
By JIMMY PERRY
This Tuesday evening at 6 o'clock, the Phantom Five, composed of several veteran ex-collegiate basketeers and a few members of the WPA and City Parks Recreational staff, will take on the pioneer combination of the "Y" Aces. The game is to be played at the Butler Street Y. M. C. A.
The Aces include Tom Griffin, Charles Foster, Jazz Pharrow, Robert Johnson, Enoch Shannon, Vallie Byrdsong and a few others-- virtually the famous original Fourth Ward Adelphi aggregation which used to burn up the YMCA Amateur League almost a decade ago.
"Old Timers"
The lineup of the Phantom Five consists of Julian H. Robinson and "Chink" Thomas, ex-Morris Brown guards; Ted Johnson, former star Clark forward; Aaron Gay, Percy Parks, Ben Coffee, Henry Hood, and "Tank" Unthank, erstwhile Hampton Institute luminary.
A recent addition to the Phantom Five is Lucius Jones, former interfrat basketball tournament high-scorer and member of four championship Omega Psi Phi teams. He will be remembered as the man who brought his team victory in the 1931 frat games here and then went to sink the Nashville Alphas for the sectional title.
