LA VERNE TESTIMONIAL PERFORMANCE PROMISES TO BE
GREAT SUCCESS.

A mammoth testimonial will be tendered Lucille La Verne at the City Auditorium, Friday night, March 5. There will be a program that will excel any entertainment of its kind ever offered in the city of Richmond. The committee in charge, composed of representative Richmond men and women, have already assembled a dozen musical and dramatic features, any one of which might well "headline" the program. A complete announcement in this respect will be made in a day or two. Suffice it to say that it will be up to the standard of entertainment excellence set by Miss La Verne in this city--that it will present an array of local talent of which the city may well be proud, that a number of Miss La Verne's professional friends in New York will come to participate and that Miss La Verne herself will then make her farewell appearance here this season.

The Richmond newspapers, in close touch with public sentiment, expressed the wish of Miss La Verne's friends and admirers for some tangible way of expressing their appreciation of all she has done for Richmond in an amusement way and of their regard for her personally. Clubs, organizations and business concerns, as well as a number of prominent individuals, are taking up the matter of the complimentary performance to be tendered her. They requested tickets in large numbers for distribution among their friends, and these tickets may now be procured at many of the Broad and Main Street business houses. A twenty-five cent admission will prevail in the balcony, fifty cents on the main floor, with a few at seventy-five and a dollar.

Miss La Verne is a Daughter of the Confederacy, and has been closely connected with the South, Richmond in particular, for many years. She has always been in the vanguard of theatrical progress in this city, and it is largely due to her efforts that Richmond amusements have progressed as they have. It was she who introduced the visiting star system here which gave the public the greatest amusement value it had ever had offered, a value which has never been excelled, unless it be by the company she has offered here for the past twenty-six weeks. Her standard has always been on the ascendant, whether in prosperity or in the face of adversity. In her personal and professional life Miss La Verne has demonstrated her regard for Richmond. In the La Verne "Testimonial" the people of Richmond will join hands in expressing their regard for her.
