The National Intelligencer of Wednesday last, says--The Senate spent several hours yesterday in the consideration of Executive business. In the course of the sitting the nomination of ANDREW STEVENSON, as Minister to England, and of Roger B. TANEY as Secretary of the Treasury, were REJECTED; and the nomination of BENJAMIN F. BUTLER, as Attorney General, was confirmed.
The injunction of secrecy having been removed from the proceedings on these nominations, (though at too late an hour to permit us to obtain a transcript of them for this morning's paper.) we shall give them in full in our next. We are able only to state now that the vote on the nomination of Mr. Stevenson was, Ayes 22, Noes 23; and the vote on the nomination of Mr. Taney, Ayes 18, Noes 28. The nomination of Mr. BUTLER was confirmed without a division.
