MURDER DUE TO JEALOUSY.

White Woman Killed by Negro, Who Then Tries to End His Own Life.

PARKERSBURG, W. Va., Jan. 27.-Shortly before midnight, in the shadow of the Logan Memorial Church, Thomas Tucker cut Mary Beal's throat with a razor, almost severing her head from the body.

Leaving her in the street he went home and told what he had done, and then tried to kill himself. He shot at himself twice and twice gashed his throat, but will recover. Jealousy was the motive.

"I killed Mary because I loved her," said Tucker.

He is colored and nineteen years old. She was thirty-five years old and white.
