ANTI-JOINT RALLY WILL BE HELD AT GLOBE THIS EVENING
Gila County Will Be Scene of Rousing and Enthusiastic Speeches.
Tonight Globe, the banner mining camp of Gila county, will be the scene of a rousing anti-joint statehood rally under the direction of the anti-joint statehood committee. The best speakers obtainable have been secured for the occasion and the "iniquitous measure" will get what's coming to it. All true, loyal Arizonans will make "a hot time in the old town tonight!" and one that will be a pleasing affair for the jointists--nit.
R. A. Kirk, member of the committee from the southern part of the Territory, left Bisbee yesterday for the scene of the fun, and will be a prominent figure in the doings there. The meeting in Globe is but one of many that have been planned by the antis to be furnished the public in every town in Arizona. Bands, transparencies and all that goes with the typical patriotic rally will have the boards and full sway at Globe. Gila county is one of the staunch counties in Arizona that is standing out for autonomy and the meeting should be one of the most enthusiastic imaginable.
Added to the gathering of Arizonans that will be present, the business men's committee from El Paso is expected to be in Globe tonight en route to the larger towns of the Territory, and they will see for themselves just what the majority of Arizonans think of the joint statehood proposition.
Before leaving yesterday, Mr. Kirk said: "In connection with the visit of the El Paso business men to Globe, I would have liked to know just what sort of message the business men of Bisbee would be pleased to send them, but owing to the pressure of business I have been unable to interview one of them. I would deem it a pleasure to extend to the El Pasoans any message that Bisbee may wish to send, and would suggest through the columns of The Review that someone, or a number of them, wire me at Globe some expression of sentiment to be expressed to the men from the Texas town. I would be only too glad to convey the message to them, to let them know that we are not unaware of their coming and that we intend to give them a rousing welcome."
Kirk will be out of the city for but a few days. He expects to return to Bisbee very soon after the Globe meeting.
