THE KNICKERBOCKER.
This New Magazine is announced in the New York American as forth-coming. It comprises, says that paper, "Introduction: Song; A Ramble in the woods; The Moss rose: Political Economy; Song of an Arctic Lover to his Mistress; Laconics; Monboddo niance: A Belle's Philosophy; Horæ Germanicæ; Gypsies of Grenada; Memoir of the late R. C. Sands; Poetry of the Esquimaux; Literary Notices; The Opera; The Drama: Notices to Correspondents, &c. Although these make up a table of contents of considerable variety, and hardly a doubt can arise of the reception of a publication enriched by the pens of BRYANT and PAULDING, the lamented Sands, the Author of 'A Year in Spain;' still the editor cannot but feel much anxiety about its appearance, when reflecting upon the expectations that have been excited by the friends of the Magazine. And, in fact, when we call to mind half that has been so courteously said and done through the papers for the last three months, --to give the work, we presume, that impetus at starting, for the want of which so many sister publications have failed,--the situation of the Editor may be assimilated to that of a sportsman, whose gun, standing in an exposed situation, has been charged and re-charged by a number of well-intentioned friends in passing who went again on their way, without bestowing a thought upon the risque he ran who was left to pull the trigger."
