DRY RAIDERS ATTACK HOME: TWO MAY PAY PENALTY

LOS ANGELES, April 25.

Plans are being shaped by the county officials for an exhaustive investigation into an attack which was made on Sunday upon the home of Eidal and Mathias Elduayens, at Inglewood. Three peace officers were members of the raiding party, who raided the house under the pretense of seeking bootleggers. One of the raiders was shot and killed and another is dying.

According to the story of the Elduayens, the raiders subjected two of the daughters to indignities, used Mrs. Elduayen roughly and brutally bound the members of the household. The raiders were dispersed finally when another officer appeared and began firing. The raiders claimed they were looking for a still.

The authorities are convinced that the raid was the work of a "well organized band" but W. S. Coburn, grand goblin of the Ku Klux Klan, declares that if any members of the klan participated in the attack, they did so without official sanction. The entire county is thoroughly aroused.

Walter M. Mosher, son of Town Marshal Mosher, who lost his life during the raid, has informed the authorities that an organization of picked men made up the raiding party which "went after the bootleggers". Deputy Sheriff Leon Rueg, who was probably mortally wounded, was one of the leaders of the band. Young Mosher, who was slightly wounded during the raid, has refused to divulge the name of the organization involved. It has been announced by the district attorney that members of the Ku Klux Klan will be summoned to testify at the inquest, to be held today.

Will Break Up Gangs

City and county officials are up in arms against night riders as a result of the Inglewood raid, and the police have been ordered to break up any mobs found. It is also announced that officers found taking part in raids will be dismissed. Federal officials are now investigating the situation.
