A Noble Act.—With pleasure we record the noble and manly exertions of Mr. Zebedee Polleys, a young man of this town, in rescuing from a watery grave the son of Capt. Lemuel Moody. On Wednesday last, while amusing himself with two other lads, in a small float, on Rack Cove river, they were upset and left to their fate: two of the number providentially reached the shore, while the one abovementioned struggled and sunk, in view of several women at a distance; Mr. P. being informed of the circumstance, launched a canoe and hastened, as near as he could judge, to the spot. Being unacquainted with swimming, he, with great presence of mind and fortitude, thrust his oar into the mud and descended thereby, and brought up the body, after its being 20 minutes in the water. After reaching the shore, by the aid of several persons and judicious management, the child was resuscitated in about half an hour.—Argus.
