A special telegram from Richmond to the Petersburg Index, says the following information has been received from Greenbrier, West Virginia:
Last spring Robertson and McPherson, Sheriff and Clerk of the county, were removed from office by the notorious Judge Harrison on account of political differences. They appealed to the Supreme Court of West Virginia, and by a recent decision of that branch were re-instated. It has been rumored since that Harrison would have them indicted for perjury in taking the test oath, and thus attain his purpose. On Thursday last a Grand jury having been selected with reference to that purpose, sent to the Court for instructions, and McPherson being present, rose and accused the judge of having packed the jury with a view to accomplishing personal ends. The Judge retorted, and McPherson, who is powerfully built, seized and attempted to throw him out of the window, but was prevented by bystanders. The Judge ordered his officers to arrest McPherson, but the citizens would not allow it. The excitement was intense.
McPherson was unmolested all day, but surrendered himself in the evening.
