A California Monument to Washington. A professor of music and elocution at the Collegiate Institute, Benicia, suggests that the members of the musical, dramatic and other artistic professions in this country, shall unite in giving a grand entertainment on the 4th of July, or perhaps it would be well to say on the evening of the 5th, the proceeds to be applied to the commencement of a fund to erect a California monument to Washington, which shall be a Hall composed of native marble, and shall be erected in San Francisco.
