Second Trial of L. A. Races Has Gloomy Outlook

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 30.-Precarious future faces the Culver City Jockey Club. Christmas day a large crowd saw the opening card, but for the next 12 days the gate was not large enough to pay expenses. Ferris had to close down the plant until money could be secured.

Last Saturday Ferris opened again intending to carry out the 87 days of the originally announced 100-day program. Many believe this week will see the definite culmination of betless racing in Southern California.
