Negroes Jailed When
Bank Holdup Fails

ANAHUAC, Tex., June 2. (P) - Two young negro men were in jail here tonight following an unsuccessful attempt to rob the Security State Bank shortly after the institution opened for business today.

Mrs. F. C. Mull, assistant cashier, reported that she accepted a deposit before the money vault was opened and a moment after the cashier walked from the bank, a young negro man stepped in and after pointing a pistol at her, demanded money.

Mrs. Mull said that the negro seized $12.50, the amount of the day's first deposit and that her husband, who is cashier of the bank, slipped out the back door and secured aid.

The negro was arrested as he started to leave the bank and another negro, found in the vicinity, was held as an accomplice.
