History of Hillel
B'nai B'rith
The 25th anniversary of Hillel will be observed at the next meeting of Phoenix B'nai B'rith Lodge 960 at Temple Beth Israel next Tuesday, April 26. Students from the Hillel Counsellorships at Arizona State College at Tempe and Phoenix College have been invited to attend.
The program, which is under the direction of Mickey Strom, former Hillel student from the University of Arizona and now guiding Hillel work in the Phoenix area, will tell the story of the beginning of Hillel and relate its history to the present. Also on the program will be Irving Hoffman, president of the Phoenix College Hillel, and Bill Shaphrin, president of the Tempe unit, who will present their viewpoints on Hillel.
'Home Away from Home'
Through the co-operation of Hillel, many Jewish students from the local colleges were invited to both Passover Seders. Hillel has been effective in furnishing Jewish college students with a "home away from home." It is instrumental in keeping the Jewish traditions and customs alive in the hearts of Jewish students.
Rabbi A. L. Krohn devotes his time to both valley units and acts as an advisor to the two college Hillel units.
