Leaders for Red Feather Campaign Appointed
Leaders of three more divisions in the 1954 United Red Feather campaign have been appointed, completing the recruiting of division heads.
The drive for $530,630 to help support 23 Red Feather services during 1954 will begin in October, according to General Chairman C. W. Burns.
Named as co-chairman of the employee division were A. V. K. Babcock of Arizona Public Service Co. and Jack Bradley of the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Co. They will be in charge of recruiting about 50 volunteer workers to solicit approximately 500 business firms with 10 or more employees. Solicitation will be conducted among the employees.
Both men have been active in past Red Feather drives and expressed confidence the goal would be met.
Appointed co-chairman of the central division were J. W. Pitts. Valley National Bank executive and Lee Hover, classified advertising manager of Phoenix Newspapers, Inc. They will direct recruiting and training of approximately 360 volunteers to solicit about 3,600 downtown business firms.
Heading the governmental division will be John Beatty, planning director of the City of Phoenix, who will direct recruiting and training of volunteer workers to solicit approximately 7,500 federal, state, county and city employees and military personnel in the Phoenix area.
Although this will be his first Phoenix Red Feather campaign, Beatty was active in similar drives in Rockford, Ill. He is a member of the board of directors of the Phoenix Community Council, a Red Feather service.
