Full Text

Warsaw, May 12. Mr. Reytan, Nuncio of Novogrod, who had acquired much esteem for his patriotism, forgot himself so far, last week, as to draw his sabre on the man who in the name of the confederacy had brought him a letter of invitation; an enormous crime, according to the laws, and for which he is liable to lose his head. He put himself under the protection of Prussia, and appeared in the city on horseback for two days together, accompanied by a hussar of the regiment of Malachowski. He is now under the protection of Russia, and lodges at the hotel of General Bibikow, who has received an estafette from Petersburg, with the news that the Empress his Sovereign had appointed him general in chief.
