Condition Is Run Down--Will Take Months for Recuperation
WASHINGTON, D. C., Sept. 23.--Joel T. Boone, White House physician, said a complete diagnosis of the illness of Herbert Hoover, jr., aged 28, disclosed a small tubercular infection of the chest. The diseased area is small, said Boone.
The condition of young Hoover, Boone said, is the result of a run-down condition.
The President's son will stay at the Presidential Lodge in Virginia probably until frost comes, then he will be brought to the White House and another complete examination will be made and future treatment will be decided upon.
Boone said his patient has gained weight and is in much better condition after one week of regular rest and diet. With proper treatment, the physician said he has every reason to believe full and complete recovery is likely, but it will take months of rest and diet.
Young Hoover has been granted leave of absence as Vice President of the Western Air Express.
