Ruling Your Husband
Therefore as the Church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives
be to their own husbands in every thing . . . Ephesians 5:24.
Last week this writer discussed that the wife held the key to a
happy marriage more so than the man. That it was the wife's duty to
please her husband rather than waiting for him to please her. If a
woman pleases her husband, many times she will not be pleasing her-
self, unless she wants to please her husband above everything else.
It was also stated last week that it wasn't enough
for a wife to be a "good" woman morally, an excellent
cook and a good housekeeper, to hold her husband.
The must be wise enough to please her man. If she can
please him, he is more likely to love her.
"GOOD" WOMEN
Many "good" women who talk about how loyal
they are to their husbands don't know their perpetual
nagging and criticizing makes the man hate them,
leave home and look for some other woman who talks
about his good points, instead.
While the other woman has not only her own hus-
band, but the "good" woman's husband eating out of
her hand, both at the same time. This adulterer is
wise enough to never mention the man's faults and
shortcomings, but to always talk about his good traits
and try to please him, . .
VALENTINE
She understands how to be humble and let the
man believe that he is ruling her, yet in most cases he isn't. The
adulterer, if asked by another woman to accompany her to town, will
reply (always within the hearing of her husband) "I'll have to ask my
husband and see what he says about it."
And all the while she is doing everything she is big enough to do
behind his back. Such recognition of the husband makes him feel
important, and he will consent to his wife's request nearly every time
she asks, even against his will.
The wife's praising her husbands good works encourages him to
do more and she wins his love. And if he loves his wife, he will try
to please her. Women who are Christians will obey the Bible,
the only Book which tells a woman just how to treat her husband.
"Therefore as the Church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be
to their own husbands in everything." . . Ep. 5:24.
CHRISTIAN CONVERSATION
The apostle Peter commends the Christian wife to be in subjec-
tion to her husband even f the husband is not a Christian, "that if
any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the
conversation of the wives, while they behold your chaste conversation
coupled with fear.' . 1 Peter 3:1-2.
The little member that causes a wife to live in hell, separate and
wreck her marriage is her tongue. When a woman gets angry, in
most cases she will let her tongue "fly away" and say everything she
is, thinking. James has written the world's masterpiece On the Tongue:
"If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his
tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain." .
James 1:26.
For in many things we offend all If any man offend not in
word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole
body." . James 3:2
GETTING ANGRY
It is commonly believed that to become angry is sinning. Sin is
conceived in the mind, but does not become manifest until it is com-
mitted in the flesh. God became angry, also Jesus The Flood was
the result of God's anger for the wickedness of Sodom and Gomorrah
Abraham pleaded with God to save the city if he could find just ten righteous people: " . . Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak ... "
Because the Pharisees were watching Jesus to see if He would heal
a man on the Sabbath so they could accuse Him, He became angry:
"And when he had looked round about on them with an
grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he . ..h unto the man. . . .
gry. He tells you to get angry: "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not
the sun go down upon your wrath." . . . Ep. 4:26. This proves that
wives may get angry with their husbands, but as Paul commands, they
him, no murder or sin has been committed; if he doesn't curse or swear,
man may get angry enough to murder another, but if he doesn't kill
no sin has been committed.
The life of Christians is a life of suffering. If Christians are mar-
ried, each will forgive every offense. When a woman forgives her
husband for his sins, they are reconciled and become as they were
before any offense was done. The testing ground of the Christian wife
or Christian husband is in the home. A woman's husband is more
capable of knowing whether or not she is a true Christian more so
than anyone else. The same is true of the husband. Each must suffer
the misgivings and faults of the other with humility and love. Not
with criticisms, wagging tongues and retaliation. This is why mar-
riage is an institution for pure-minded and holy people-true Chris-
tians.
