COPPERHEADS MORE THAN A'PLENTY THIS SEASON.

John Kittinger, of Alderson, who is working on the C. and O. Railway, says copperhead snakes are unusually numerous along the railroad this summer.

On a recent Saturday he and the rest of his crew were unloading ties between Lowmoor and Steele, Va., when Pete Wallace who was in charge of the train, asked them to stop a moment and stepping from the caboose steps he secured a club and killed two of the reptiles, which were in a clump of grass within striking distance of where the men were at work.
