The ringing of my telephone always creates a sort of anxiety within me. One of the real pleasures that I enjoy is having friends call me on the phone for no particular reason---just to chat. I imagine most women and quite a few men enjoy this same experience. Along with being thought of, helping to make the conversation more enjoyable is a nice, pleasant telephone voice on the other end.

Nothing spoils the conversation more than a loud, uncontrolled, booming or shrieking voice on the other end of the line. It seems that some people think that the telephone is not perfected to the extent that you can talk normally and be heard distinctly, but that it is necessary to shout the full distance from party-to-party. There are certain people, when they call me, I immediately hold the phone away from my ear, to prevent suffering serious damage to the delicate organs of my hearing senses. Along with this type 'Friend', we also have among us those who talk too softly, and then there are those who talk too fast. I've seen cartoons where husband would lay the telephone receiver on the desk and immediately say, 'Yes Dear', to an uninterrupted stream of chatter emerging from the instrument. How does one tell an individual that he or she is talking too loudly on the phone? I would like to have two of my loud talking friends to talk to each other, it should be amazing.

Well... nice, pleasant, conversing with you...... till next week........
