HAGUE, December 5. The Scotch brigade, in service of this
republic, has been applied for by the Court of Great Britain, to
be taken into British pay. The terms upon which this is to take
place are not yet settled, but it is said they have stipulated not to
be sent to America, and to have leave to recruit in Scotland,
which they have not had for some years past. It is likewise said
that they are to continue three years in British pay. The officers
and under officers are Scotch, the privates mostly Germans.
Each regiment consists of 1000 men, being in all 2000.
