On Monday week, as we learn from the Portland Advertiser, the store of Otis C. Bolster, in Rumford (Me.) was blown up by a cask of powder being set on fire. Mr. Bolster had been getting a stock of goods in, and among the articles was a cask of powder. His customers had been trying the powder, and had left some particles upon the top of the cask. Mr. Bolster's son, nine years old, in order to amuse himself, and in the absence of his father, took a coal of fire, and thus set the particles into a blaze. The whole cask immediately ignited. Half of the store was blown into the Androscoggin, and the other half into the street. The roof tumbling down in the middle. The boy was immediately killed. One of the other young lads had his arm broken, and the third was badly wounded.
