Serving With Waves
In Washington, D. C.
Seaman First Class Marie Catherine O'Hare of 2 Wells Avenue is now on duty with the WAVES in Washington, D. C., it was announced this week by the Navy Department. She received her recruit training at the Naval Training School, Bronx, N. Y., and is now residing in WAVE quarters where living was described by the Public Relations Office as "comfortable, friendly and typically Navy."
In their liberty hours, the WAVES are free to participate in the many activities planned by the Recreation Officer and other members of ship's company at the Quarters, or to visit the many places of interest around the capital. Social opportunities for servicewomen range from teas at the famous embassies to dances and entertainments at the various canteens and USO clubs.
Seaman 1/c O'Hare, daughter of Mrs. Julia Barron, is striving for a Yeoman rating. She was sworn in as a member of the Women's Reserve of the U. S. Naval Reserve on August 3, 1944, and is now stationed at the Navy Department. She was formerly employed at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Corp., and the Aetna Life Insurance Company.
