A subscriber for the American Magazine is happy to see that periodical publication continually improving.—Hopes, for the sake of a work so entertaining and really useful, subscribers will be daily increasing. The number of valuable original pieces, and the taste discovered in selecting from other publications, do credit to the editor—invite subscriptions from the scientific and tasty; and claim the patronage of all friends to American publications. Though its first appearance was not flattering, it is but a debt due to merit to acknowledge, the last number must equal the expectations of the most sanguine. The remarks on "education" in number 6, particularly those in page 37, merit being engraved on "the lintel and two side posts" of the door of every American. The first attempt at reviewing publications, appears to great advantage. The following review in the last number is of such consequence, that Mr. Childs is requested to give it a place in his Daily Advertiser.
