Two people were slightly injured early Saturday as the car in which they were riding chopped into a utility pole and knocked down a mail box on Cascade Rd. Injured were Miss Effie Nell Newsome and Harold Pruitt. Miss Newsome suffered lacerations of the forehead about 3:10 a.m. She was a passenger in a 1954 Chevrolet operated by Harold Pruitt, 38, 324 Raspberry Pl, Apt. 8 when the mishap occurred. Pruitt told police he was traveling east on Cascade when a car he was meeting forced him off the road. The car broke a utility pole, knocking it 10-feet, and ran down a mail box hurling it approximately 150-feet. The driver was charged with failing to remain in proper lane-accident. He was also treated at the hospital for lacerations to the forehead and injuries to the arm.
