Arrest of a Would-Be Murderer.—Thomas Bundy, a young man aged about eighteen years, and who formerly resided in the lower part of Posey County, was arrested last Thursday, in Gibson County, on a charge of attempting to murder his uncle. His uncle, it is said, has a good deal of money, and it is supposed the young man desired to possess himself of it. Accordingly, he secreted himself in a fence corner, near where his uncle was plowing corn, and when the old man drove to the side of the field, young Bundy fired on him, but missed his aim. Seeing that the ball had failed to do the bloody work intended, the young man called out, "Uncle, I have shot myself!" The old gentleman hastened to the fence to give assistance, but just as he was climbing over, his nephew fired again, the muzzle of the pistol being so close that the powder burned his face. After this, a third shot was fired, which also failed to take effect. This young man is said to be a desperate character, having sworn that he would shoot his brother, and when arrested declared that he would submit to any fate if allowed his liberty long enough to kill his brother. About a year ago, he robbed a neighbor of valuable articles, and for that was arrested and held to bail, but had been absent since that occurrence till recently. His parents and relations are respectable people.
