The acquittal of Dr. Hollick in Philadelphia, is hailed as a triumph. The Keystone says:
"The whole matter may be daguerreotyped in a few words. Certain men of the Medical profession, unwilling that the poor man should read for seventy five cents, what the rich may purchase for seven dollars, resolved to put the Doctor down. They have failed --miserably failed. They are welcome to the honor they have won, such as it is. As for the Doctor, his reward will be found in the warm approbation of an intelligent community."
The Doctor is now in this city on his way South, with the intention of lecturing in Norfolk, Richmond and Charleston. We can only heartily commend him to the press and people, wherever he goes. On his return he contemplates lecturing in Baltimore.-Baltimore Argus.
We had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Hollick in Richmond last week, and learned from him that it was his intention, after completing a course there, to come immediately to Norfolk and Portsmouth, where he will lecture on those interesting subjects which every mother, particularly, should be acquainted with. The Doctor, has thousands of certificates from as many ladies of the highest respectability in the cities of Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, &c., of the great importance and value of his lectures, and not satisfied with such evidences, their grateful hearts have put him in possession of enduring testimonials of his worth in the shape of gold medals, that are modestly exhibited as support from the beloved matrons of our country. Dr. H., however, is not satisfied with doing good in one branch, or by one mode, but has prepared several works on the subject of health and life, which are always for sale by him. They are no trifling theories, but thorough treatises which may be relied on with safety.-- We submit the titles of some of them, and advise our readers to possess themselves of a copy of each.
1. The Origin of Life; a Popular Treatise on the Philosophy and Physiology of Reproduction in Plants and Animals, &c. Illustrated with fine Colored Engravings. Tenth Edition. By Frederick Hollick, M. D.
2. Outlines of Anatomy and Physiology; illustrated by a New-Dissected Plate of the Human Organization, and by separate views. Designed either to convey a General Knowledge of these subjects in itself, or as a Key for explaining larger and more complete works. By the same.
3. Neuropathy; or the True Principles of the Art of Healing the Sick. Being an explanation of the action of Galvanism, Electricity and Magnetism, in the Cure of Diseases; and a Comparison between their powers and those of Drugs, or Medicines, of all kinds, with a view to determine their relative value and proper use. By the same.
