PACIFIC OMEN.

An association of members of Parliament has been formed for the purpose of effecting a diminution of the national expenditure, and the attainment of a speedy peace.

Three meetings have already been held: the first on Wednesday, the third yesterday morning. Several resolutions have been entered into, of which the following are the principal:

1st. Resolved, That in the present critical state of the country, every possible measure be taken to promote a more economical expenditure of public money.

2d. That every effort be made to an immediate restoration of peace.

The number of members who compose this association amounts already to thirty-five; they are principally country gentlemen. We applaud the motives upon which this association is stated to have been formed; though we must be permitted to express some surprise, that the members of it have not openly joined those who have uniformly opposed the war in Parliament. We ardently hope, however, that it may not only reduce the expenditure under which we groan, and restore the blessings of peace, for which we pant--but that it may drive an incapable Minister from the post which he has too long held. Yet surely the people must now see that if they were true to themselves, it would not be necessary for this set of men or that, to unite for the purpose of rescuing the country from perdition, because it would be impossible for any Minister to dare to adopt such systems and schemes as would bring the country into difficulty, danger, and disgrace.
