Full Text

Little Demand
For Free Beds

After playing to a full house on its first opening nights the city's free sleeping quarters in the rear of the police station have dwindled in popularity among the unemployed and homeless until scarcely half a dozen sleepers now apply for beds in one night.

Night before last established a record for scant applications, when only two slept in the city's sheet iron free hotel. Other nights during the past week have seen hardly more than six at any time occupying the sleeping quarters.

A move is on foot to close the shed because of the slight amount of use lately. Whether spring weather is responsible for the decrease in those wishing free beds or they have secured employment and are paying for their rooms, is not known.
