Pine County Nursing Project Committee Will Endeavor to Keep Work.

In the face of a decrease of $200 in the Federal allotment for Pine county's nursing project an attempt will be made to keep the project in operation. The Nursing Advisory committee met at County Nurse Marion Krogdahl's office in Hinckley Thursday evening, June 8, with eight members present. The meeting was opened by Mrs. Herbert Johnson, president. The secretary's report was read and accepted. Mrs. Johnson stated a Federal fund of $600 instead of $800 would be extended to Pine county for another year for the nursing service if the balance could be raised in the county. The committee is very anxious to continue the work that is so well established and will do its best to meet the requirements. Visitors were Miss Ann Nyquest of Minneapolis and Mrs. Oscar Eklund of Bruno.

Miss Krogdahl gave her report on different phases of the work which included school inspections that were finished during the spring months which revealed interesting figures. Many more corrections of eye conditions and defective teeth were found than had been anticipated.

These schools which were visited in the spring of 1938 were seen again this year and defective conditions were checked. Consequently the figures covered about 50% of the total school population. In the fall the remainder of the rural schools will be visited and corrections tabulated.
The percentage of correction for both eye and dental defects are given for each town and the rural schools Percentage of correction

Many children, it may be assumed from these figures, are in better health for the inspection given school children by the Nursing service of Pine county. Eighty children in the country were fitted with glasses and 261 had dental extractions or repair work
