The House of Representatives
opened the 12th day of the Extraor-
dinary Session of the Nineteenth
Legislature by summarily clearing
its gallery of spectators, chasing
out the hired help and locking its
doors while it went into executive
session.
The House remained in closed ses-
sion for an hour and 10 minutes.
but members said afterward they
were sworn to secrecy on the pro-
ceedings.
There was no advance warning on
the House action. Rep. Glen D.
Franklin, Fourth Division Demo-
crat, moved for the ouster of em-
ployees, spectators and the press
for an executive session "to take up
business of extreme importance to
both houses and to the Territory."
After a half hour, the House
summoned Paul Solka, of Fair-
banks, a member of the Territorial
Veterans' Board.
This board, in session here last
week. received the resignation of
Veterans Director Norman Haley.
