LOS ANGELES, Calif., July 26

Threats to prove that Joseph D. Batchelder whom Charles I. Collins is alleged to have shot here June 1, broke up seven homes before he entered the domestic circles of Collins and his wife, were made by attorneys for Collins' defense in court.

The threat came during the conclusion of Collins' preliminary hearing.

Collins is accused of shooting Batchelder a few hours after the two men had signed an agreement whereby Batchelder was to care for Mrs. Collins the remainder of her life.
