License Commissioner Keenan Meets His Brother After Thirty-Four Years' Absence

License Commissioner Keenan was busily engaged shaving his customers this forenoon. As usual, Captain Rhodes happened in to get shaved and while he was in "Barney's" chair a stranger, with full beard, walked in and sat down.

The commissioner bowed and kept at his work, but the Captain noticed that he looked at the new-comer strangely. First he would turn around at him; then study his features reflected in the glass and then glance at the Captain hurriedly. After a few minutes he dropped the razor and ran for the bearded man and hugged him.

He was his brother who had just arrived from California and whom he had not seen for 34 years.
