South Carolina has lost a valuable asset. Dr. J. Henry Harms, president of Newberry college, has decided to return to the pulpit and has been called to a great church in Philadelphia. The fact that he has lived in South Carolina and will go to another state will serve to bring the people of these two states into closer association and into better understanding. South Carolina is proud to have had Dr. Harms come among us. He has done a big work at Newberry college, and has been regarded as one of the foremost citizens of the State. There is nothing little about Dr. Harms and he has made a good record, a substantial progress and a lasting impression in South Carolina. He has been one of the most enthusiastic and devoted in his Americanism, although so many of his friends and associates in this state are descended from German homes. They too are all American now.
