The contract for improving the county Jail was let this week, by the County Commissioners, to W. P. Horton, at $1,380. By the terms of the contract, the upper story is to be weatherboarded, partitioned off and put in condition for a residence for a jailor. The holes in the building, made by escaping prisoners are also to be stopped up, and all damages to the cells repaired. In addition to this a double board fence, twelve feet high, is to be built around the jail, at a distance of thirty feet from the building—making the yard 80 by 80 feet.
