Full Text

Amsterdam, July 22. We have certain Letters from the Empire in which the Authors make no Difficulty of saying, that if a certain Elector opposes with so much Violence the Election of a King of the Romans, it is not because he would not have it succeed in Favour of the House of Austria, hoping, perhaps, that he shall one Day be able to cause that Dignity to pass into his own House. Whether there be any Thing in this Conjecture or no, add these Letters, it's very certain that if it should come to pass, (as it's very doubtful whether it will or no) that the pretended Right of the College of the Princes, in Relation to the Necessity of an Election, Should be established, one may be assured, in that Case, with the Assistance of France and some other Electors, he would accomplish, without much Trouble, the whole Extent of his vast Projects.

Letters from the Empire state that a certain Elector opposes the election of a King of the Romans not due to opposition to the House of Austria's success, but hoping to pass the dignity to his own house. If the College of Princes' right to necessitate an election is established, with France and other Electors' assistance, he could achieve his vast projects.
