K. K. K. PARADE PROVES TO BE A MILD AFFAIR

Lancaster people who motored to Madison Saturday to see the big klan parade say there were 1,500 unmasked marchers in line. It was reported that Gov. Blaine had wired the sheriff asking him to stop the parade on the grounds that it was an affront to the state. The sheriff, it is said, declined to take action unless there was a breach of the peace. First in line were half a dozen or so marchers followed by a band. An onlooker claims the drum of the band had the name of a well known organization on the tympani. Following were the marchers, two by two, and with arms folded. Our informant says the parade was entirely peaceable and more like a funeral procession than anything else.

There were thousands of spectators.
