Full Text

Franklin Gazette.
A great degree of party excitement prevails in Maine respecting the election of Governor, which will take place in September next. The only two candidates for that office at present are the honorable Albion K. Paris, judge of the district court of the U. S. and Gen. Joshua Wingate, jun, lately collector of the port of Bath. There is no epithet in the language of contempt, or aversion, or hatred, (says the editor of the Portsmouth Journal,) which is not liberally bestowed upon one another by the friends of these gentlemen: a sufficient proof, if any were wanted, that no credit is to be given to the exaggerated statements of party spirit.
