Full Text

On Sunday night last the dwelling-house of Mr. HENRY RANLETT, of Exeter, printer, was entirely consumed by fire, together with his household furniture, printing apparatus, books, &c.—Mr. RANLETT is a young man just entered, with a family, upon the stage of action, he has been steady and attentive to business, and had acquired a small property, by the dint of industry; which by this unfortunate accident is wholly destroyed. We are happy to hear the inhabitants of Exeter have stepped forward in a spirited manner to make up, at least, part of his loss, vieing with each other to see who can do most toward rescuing their townsman from a state so disagreeable as his must be; thrown as it were in a moment, from easy circumstances, upon the mercies of a wide world. An example this, worthy to be followed by every humane being. We suppose Mr. Ranlett's loss exceeds one thousand pounds, lawful money; which we sincerely hope will be made up to him.
