"On the 2d of this Instant four Turkish Ships of War, two Morocco Frigates, and twelve Gallies, put into this Harbour. On Board of one of the Turkish Ships was a Turk of Distinction, who immediately landed and went to the Governour, with whom he had a long Conference, and the next Day set off under an Escort of Spanish Horse for the Court of Madrid; and the Ships, &c. are ordered to wait his Return. This uncommon, and unexpected Embassy, has caused much Speculation here, especially among the foreign Consuls, Merchants, &c. who immediately sent off Advices of this Transaction to their respective Courts. The Officers, &c. of the Turks, are every Day elegantly entertained by the Governour."
