Full Text

United States Senator.

By reference to our Springfield news it will be seen that the legislature have elected the Hon. Sidney Breese U. S. senator in the place of the Hon. R. M. Young, whose time expires on the 4th of March next. Mr. Young was probably the choice of the north, but we have no doubt the election of Judge Breese will give general satisfaction. He is a man of uncommon abilities, of undoubted integrity, a firm and unflinching democrat, and will, no doubt, make an excellent senator.

We hazard nothing in congratulating the whole state—the north, south, east, and west—upon the election of Judge B.: all her important and diversified interests will, we are assured, find in him an able, faithful, and fearless champion. We copy and adopt with pleasure the language of the correspondent of the Peoria Press in relation to Mr. B.
