Engineer N. F. Fouch is running temporarily as extra man in the local pool.
M. B. McCloskey of the chemical department, will leave in a few days on a vacation trip.
F. A. Howe of the electrical department, has gone to Denver on a two weeks' vacation trip.
W. A. Powers, chief chemist of the Santa Fe, will leave tomorrow for a business trip to Temple, Texas.
O. T. Reece, of the chemical department, has returned from an extended and pleasant vacation trip to Vinland, Kan.
Today is the regular semimonthly day for the Homeseekers' excursion. The rush, however, will occur tomorrow.
Julius Oberer of the chemical laboratory, will leave on a vacation trip in a few days. He is undecided as yet where he will go.
E. H. Berry, assistant chemist of the Santa Fe, will leave on a vacation trip to Chicago Friday. He will be gone about two weeks.
Harry W. Townsend of the electrical department at Argentine has returned to work after a two weeks' absence on a vacation trip.
Roy Cain of the office of the mechanical superintendent, went to Valley Falls yesterday where he will spend a week's vacation.

James Garrety, the flagman at the Fourth street crossing, has returned to work after having been off for several days on account of a severe case of sickness.
Business car No. 4 which is used by Vice President Hendrick, was sent to Chicago last night after having been in the local shops for a general overhauling.
Byron M. Burt, chief clerk in the office of P. W. Sayre, general foreman of the bridge and building department, left yesterday for a vacation trip to Chicago.
Miss Daisy Walsh, stenographer in the office of Pat Walsh, general baggage agent, has gone to New Mexico on a vacation trip. Mrs. Ella Harris is working during her absence.
C. W. Kouns, superintendent of transportation, returned to Chicago last night after having been in Topeka for a short time yesterday on business connected with his department.
H. K. Brooks of the United States Light and Heating company of New York city, is stopping in Topeka for a few days on his way east after an extended trip over the Santa Fe system.
Engineer Rossiter of Argentine took No. 17 this morning from Newton to Kansas City in the place of Engineers Gilpin and Beeler on account of the regular engine being out of commission.
Engine No. 2328 was taken out on trial trip this morning in charge of Engineer Kelly and Conductor Bankhead. The engine is a switch engine which has been recently overhauled and will be assigned to service within a few days.
E. A. Taylor, a conductor who has been on runs Nos. 113, 114, 17 and 18 for some time, has been assigned to the helper's job on runs Nos. 5 and 6 in the place of Conductor Line.
George M. Tilford has been assigned to runs Nos. 113, 114, 17 and 18 in the place of Conductor Taylor and Conductor Line returns to the chain gang car.
The laugh in railway circles today is on the train crew of No. 121, the freight between Topeka and Atchison. While the freight was coming into Topeka last night the train broke in two sections at Valley Falls. The accident, however, was not discovered until the train pulled into the North Topeka yards when it was found necessary to back the train to Valley Falls to get the other section. It was a distance of 27 miles, making a total extra mileage of 54 miles.
George Siemantel, general master mechanic of the Fort Worth & Denver road at Childress, Texas, is visiting in Topeka for a few days. Mr. Siemantel was formerly with the Santa Fe as general foreman of the Southern Kansas division at Chanute.
