prepared, and not in all cases, calculated for hard service; & in some instances, we witnessed the horse travelling off in good spirits, with the more shafts of his machine, leaving the principal stationary in the street; and where one part of it, with the riders, quietly staid or two overturnings took place, the amusement was not much interrupted, at least, that part of it was not lessened which the spectators were enjoying. There was too little snow and too much crust for good snow balling, and the entertainment was not much diversified by that kind of exercise; but upon the whole, the exhibition might be considered as a very tolerable winter scene.
