Full Text

We observe it intimated in one of the New York papers, that WILLIAM LEE, Esq. has received the appointment of Governor of the Mississippi (meaning, we presume, the Alabama) Territory. This is incorrect. The Territory of Alabama, as we have before stated, will not receive a separate government until the new state of Mississippi shall accept the terms of admission offered by Congress, and formally become a member of the Union.

It is obvious, therefore, that no Territorial officers will be appointed for the Alabama prior to that event.
