GOVERNMENT WET-NURSING
Some folks have a mighty high notion about what their central government ought to do in the way of economically wet-nursing them.
They would have it guarantee a babyhood deluxe for every infant that happens not to be born in lordly luxury, provide old-age pensions of $200 per month for all who live to be more than 60, and a resplendently paying job for everybody in between.
All of this delights the heart to contemplate, but Utopias happen to exist only in the imagination.
Besides, it would be just as well to reserve a few benefactions in the way of human improvement for heaven to furnish.
