ESTEBETH WILL
START ON NEW
ROUTE AT ONCE

Capt. Davis Will Give Juneau
Service to Chatham Strait
Beginning
Next Week.

Capt. J. V. Davis, President and Manager of the Davis Transportation Company, owner of the Estebeth which has been operated on the Sitka and Skagway mail routes for the last eight years, announces that the Estebeth will continue to operate out of Juneau as a freight and passenger carrier. The mail contract, held by the Alaska Steamship Company, expires next Wednesday. Beginning that day the Estebeth will inaugurate its new service which will take the all ports along Chatham Strait.

Captain Davis said beginning next Wednesday the Estebeth will leave her former trip on the new schedule stopping at Funter Bay, Hoonah, Let Tuete Kil, Ushk Chatham Knro War Springs Bay, Tyee, Red Bluff Bay, Port Walter, Port Armstrong, Port Conclusion, Port Alexander and return, via Pillar Bay Washington Bay, Saginaw Bay Tyee Beacon Hawk Inlet and Funter Bay then in Juneau.

This regular weekly trip Capt. Davis believes can be made in three or four days, and that will have the Estebeth rule every day each week when she will be available for special trips on charter or otherwise.

Business men who have discussed the matter believe this new route is one that will add greatly to the transportation out of this town, a service that will be an accommodation to Juneau business men and to those engaged in business and industry along Chatham Strait.

Several times the Juneau Chamber of Commerce has endeavored to get a mail service for the route that Capt. Davis will start the Estebeth, and it subsidized a boat on that route for a season or two. It is believed that the Estebeth is well adapted to the service she is about to enter. It is pointed out that her record on the mail routes she has covered for eight years is ample proof of that fact.
