A month or two since this gentleman publicly announced his intention not again to be a candidate for Congress, but to retire from public life. This information called out from all parts of the State and country expressions of unfeigned regret. We are glad to learn from the Ohio papers that there is some hope of securing the services of this most useful and able member of Congress for another term at least. The Whig Convention of his district participating in the universal desire to retain him in the public service, have nominated him for re-election. We sincerely hope that he will accept the nomination.-National Intelligencer.
