Grand Jury Probes Paving Squabble
A special grand jury committee delved into the Brawley paving squabble Tuesday and collected information to be placed before other grand jurors at a later date.
Some members of the group waiting before the grand jury room had been subpoenaed to testify and some volunteered to testify if the committee wished. The group included Mayor Frank Kretz, Councilmen S. D. Carey. Harney Archias. Harvey Hastain, jr., City Engineer Walter Hopkins. Mrs. Maude Mercer, E. A. Nelson, and A. Clark.
Clark and Nelson led the group protesting the quality of the paving on A,B,C,D, and E streets.
