D. S. Crawford, a prominent young sugar planter who for the past several years was engaged as assistant manager of the Evan Hall plantation, now belonging to the Evan-Belle Company, in the first ward of this parish, relinquished that position a few days ago and left Thursday for Nitburg, Ala., where he will make his home in the future. Mr. Crawford owns a 350-acre farm near Nitburg, which he expects to cultivate this year. Mr. Crawford is a brother of A. S. Crawford, co-owner of the Crescent Farm, and is considered one of the most successful young planters in the parish and ranked high as a plantation manager. While regretting his departure from Ascension, The Chief joins his many friends in wishing to him best wishes for success in his new field of labor.
